Bike Planet by Tom Walker

AVAILABLE NOW FROM WORLD FORCE ARTIFACTS: Bike Planet by Tom Walker

I first met Tom Walker over 20 years ago at a crossroads near my house. Tom and his friend were looking for somewhere to ride their bikes so I took them to the woods nearby where me and a few others were trying to build jumps and stuff. Since then his bicycle has taken him a fair bit further than the forests of South Cumbria, and a couple of years ago Tom and his partner Becca pedalled their way from Ulverston to the United States, going the long way via Europe, Asia and Australia.

Along the way Tom took loads of nice photos—and while he documented seemingly pretty much everything he saw—one thing that stood out in particular were the other bicycles he encountered on their voyage, from the fully-loaded tourers of fellow bike-packers to the useful everyday cycles of the locals.

Bike Planet is a small A6 book featuring some of these photographs—roughly following the route of their voyage with 60 pages of bikes, the people who ride them and the places they can take you.

The book also features a short interview with Tom about the trip and the universal appeal of the humble bicycle.
